Nico Mendoza is a bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, educator, and online content creator in the Los Angeles area. He started getting into music at the age of 10 on the guitar and quickly picked up several other instruments soon after, such as bass, piano, violin, and percussion. Nico has extensive experience playing in concert bands, jazz ensembles, orchestras, drum corps, and indoor percussion.
Nico holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Contemporary Writing & Production from the Berklee College of Music where he graduated cum laude, and studied electric bass with Victor Bailey, Lincoln Goines, Anthony Vitti, and Oscar Stagnaro. He has also studied percussion under Dean Koba and Ed Saindon.
His YouTube channel features soundtrack-accurate video game music covers, as a solo performer playing several instruments as well as featuring other content creating musicians from all over the world. Nico has also performed with multiple bands at conventions such as MAGFest, VGM Con, and MAGWest. He has performed with Dom Palombi's Game Night, the insaneintherain Collective, Multiplayer Big Band, the Virtual Video Game Orchestra, and Windfall.
Nico's most extensive work as a composer and arranger features percussion ensemble music performed all over the world. His writing has been premiered by Kärntner Trommlerkorps, ATOM Percussion, Plano West Percussion, and Corona Del Sol Percussion, among other ensembles at the high school and college level. His background as an educator also stems from percussion as a front ensemble technician for high schools in the Southern California area. Nico is also proudly endorsed by Vic Firth and Zildjian.
